I love being a blogger….I get to go visit some great places, meet great people and get packages sent to my house with product samples.
I was excited the other day when I got a package from Hidden Valley filled with their new sandwich spreads. One in particular kept calling my name. I wanted to put the Spicy Chipotle Sauce on everything (potato burritos, in tuna salad) but settled for a toned down sort of BLT.
I say toned down because instead of using bacon, I used grilled pork chops (low fat!) and sliced them really thin.
I layered that with some lovely heirloom tomatoes and fresh lettuce I happened to have on hand. And, some great provolone cheese. The bread was a soft, flaky and buttery croissants. If I am not having bacon, I allow myself croissants. I smeared both sides with a heavy layer of the Hidden Valley Spicy Chipotle Spread although it was quite spicy.
These were a hit with my family…..enough different flavors and textures to keep the sandwich interesting but easy enough for a weeknight dinner and healthy enough to make me feel OK about feeding them to the kids.
Some of the other Hidden Valley sandwich spreads would have been great in this as well…like the Oven Roasted Garlic spread…but we were in the mood for something spicy.
